I had a very exciting treatment today. It is a way that I have almost guaranteed myself that cancer cells that I dealt with a few years ago will not return. How lucky is it that I have been in the right place at the right time to be able to receive a treatment that is so new? It is not being done in any other lab in the world, to our knowledge at this time. An earlier version had been used in Europe for almost 15 years. 3 weeks ago they drew blood from me. They harvested cancer cells from that blood. They then removed the Hayflick limit (in my words they neutered the cancer cells). This is what allows a cancer cell to multiply at a phenomenal rate. This will induces apoptosis (death) of cancer cells of like kind that when it is reintroduced back into my body. This was done by an IV this afternoon. These cells will work in my body for AT LEAST 14 to 17 weeks. Due to the very low cancer cell count, this will most likely bring the cancer cell count to 0. How fantastic is that?
