I had dinner with my daughter and niece last night. As they prepared to eat, my daughter reminded my niece, whos younger than her, to say her prayer. It made me wonder why do we pray before we eat. Theres no command in the Bible to do so. Theres a couple of examples of Jesus giving thanks before a meal, but no command. It had become almost an automatic requirement. I asked the girls why we pray before eating and they said to thank God for the blessing. But why dont we pray before doing other things? Why dont we pray before driving a car? Or before we watch a movie? Those are all blessings. We should make it a habit to thank God for every blessing. It doesnt have to be a long prayer or else youd never get anything done. But getting into the habit of counting your blessings is a good thing. And dong forget to give thanks to God, the giver of all out blessings. Be blessed.
