I had this conversation about a week ago but I just get so passionate about this. This is for my deep spiritual thinkers. It is not enough to be Spirit filled (by that I mean you speak in tongues) without being Spirit led ( operating in the Holy Spirit daily). Its the difference between dwelling in the house of God or just a Sunday house guest. I grew up in charismatic Spirit filled churches and it was normal to me...but so many people in the greater church body put the emphasis on the evidence of the Holy Spirit and the outward act of speaking in tongues and miss the purpose. Which I believe is why it is so misunderstood by those who are against it or freaked out by it. Praying in tongues is praying the will of God and laying down your flesh to go beyond what human words can speak. But it is an access point to the Holy Spirit not just an outward show, and it is to move us to a place of submission not just to walk away unchanged. I have seen countless people who speak in tongues on Sunday and are entertained by bells and whistles and yet live their without being led by the Holy Spirit in everything that they do. They wonder why their lives are put pf control becausw they have not learned to be led by the Holy Spirit. Many have calloused their hearts from the voice of God because they have not had a revelation of what it is really about. Being Led by the Spirit is about our complete surrender to Him. It is submitting our lives and choices in the moments when it matters the most, where we say not my will but Yours be done. Are you being led by the Spirit?
