I hardly find this to be a rather ineffective crime deterrent_As if profiling and stop and frisk werent enough of a social issue. When even the most reasonable of men deem this tactic to be intrusive and an utter display of invasion of privacy, how can it be considered otherwise by the mayor and police dept. of Americas largest city? If I were to be suspected of committing a crime Id expect to be stopped, detained, questioned or arrested in a dignified and respectable manner. Being kissed, on the mouth no less, by a stranger without ones approval should be considered not only inappropriate and offensive but esp. in these instances as downright unprofessional as well. What next? start copping feels? (pun very much intended!) Id be curious to know how popular this behavior is or would visualized if perpetrated by minority police officers towards white female suspects. From another perspective what are the health risks, if any, associated with this practice. I would not be pleased to have someone with a communicable disease, i.e. TB, herpes, the flu or even the common cold taking it upon themselves to dole out unwanted or unwarranted kisses on my cheeks, let alone on the lips. If this is Bloombergs idea of a sick joke I fail to find the humor therein. Not to be mean-spirited but I wonder if he and the NYPD would be as eager to kiss Ebola victims or make any other contact: physical or otherwise? Id daresay not! :-/
