I have a bone to pick. Youll either read this or you wont and if you dont youre probably not someone whod care that Im not longer responding to things you post anyway. I love all my friends, but some of you post these horrible violent images that are very disturbing. I understand your motivation. You want to shock people into action. You want to show people the violence they arent doing anything to prevent. I get it. I hate it. This doesnt do anything real in the world to prevent these things. It only forces people to see things they should never have to look at, especially my children who may be in the general vicinity when Im scrolling through my feed. Rather than force feed me (and everyone else who sees your posts) pictures of dead children killed in drone strikes, hunters posing with the corpses of endangered animals theyve killed, bloody animals cut open with their now dead babys falling out of their uteruss and all manor of other atrocities, how about you organize something that actually helps to solve these problems and then promote that. Perhaps then you can raise awareness while simultaneously doing something about it. If you do feel the need to share these things at least have the courtesy of sharing articles discussing the topic with a warning of graphic images rather than the graphic images themselves. This at least gives people the choice of subjecting themselves to it or not. I realize this is counter-intuitive to your general modus operandi, but you arent considering the effect youre having on the children of the people you are friends with. You are forcing them to view this violence and desensitizing them to it. This doesnt help your cause. In future should another of these images graze my feed I will simply unfollow you. I wont unfriend you because I still value you in other regards, but I cannot permit this kind of horribleness in my news feed and subsequently in my childrens world. Its a shame because some of you post many things that I do find interesting and helpful and so on. Please just be courteous of those you are impacting. Its not just your Facebook friends. We shouldnt have to feel like we can only check our feed on our mobiles.
