I have a car problem......can anyone advise? I have a Mondeo 1.8TD 1997 and it had an oil leak. It seemed to be coming from the oil filter area and so I replaced the filter but it still leaked. I took it to Dani Garage in Alhaurin el Grande following recommendations on here and they said it was leaking from the seal between the oil pump and the engine block. They estimated 80€ to 90€ and I gave the go ahead. Dani Garage replaced the seals and then told me the engine had no oil pressure at all. There had never been any problem previously. They then said the oil pickup might be blocked and they removed the subframe and gearbox to remove the sump, but this was not the problem so they put it all back again. They then obtained a secondhand oil pump without my go ahead and fitted this but still no oil pressure at all. They say that the original pump probably failed because they cleaned it and removed the carbon deposits. They now want to fit a new oil pump from Ford, total bill will now be 600€, which is more than the value of the car. Dani Garage have said that the alternative is for me to take the car away as is, undriveable. It is SIX weeks today since I drove the car there, and it drove perfectly, just had an oil leak. I have been to Dani Garage several times in the six weeks, but have never seen the car actually being worked on, and have told them several times that I need the car for work as it has a towbar for my small trailer. Are there any mechanics out there that can give me some advice?
