When he decided to break with the majority of his political party (he is still a maverick) on the decision to release the CIA torture report I reflected back on reading his biography on the horrors of his own captivity as a POW and the torture he endured. If anyone has earned a right to have a passionate, reasoned response in this matter is is John McCain. According to a CNN story he lauded the release of the Senate Intelligence Committees report on torture and decried the use of torture as having stained our national honor and that it did much harm and little practical good.
