I have a one-way ticket to Germany departing on July 2nd. Ill travel slowly over land by train to Prague, stay there for a couple weeks or months, and then move on. I really want to see Sofia and Bucharest and... the list goes on and on. Ill be a freelance writer, and have a while to work on it and make it financially sustaining. Ill probably be back in Portland in a year or two, looking for a job and asking to sleep on your couch. Just at the moment, Im excited to be streamlining and letting go. There is stuff I dont need to own any more, things I dont have to do any more, relationships I dont need to maintain any more, habits I get to break... its a chance to rethink a lot of things in my life. I not only get an opportunity to re-invent my future, but its a rare chance to re-invent my past, if I want to. Ive spent the past several years on a slow slide, headed somewhere Im not excited about, with a seemingly narrowing field of options. Im taking this chance to explode my horizons, to allow the utterly unexpected to happen, to create radical possibilities.
