I have a question...well, 2 actually. They have arisen as a result of my case today and just reading the files and comments on here.. 1) Recording...can someone please clarify for me, how we are able to use parts of the criminal code when litigating civil cases or simply in our daily lives, to justify recording conversations? ie: I feel stupid arguing my right to do something as specified in the Criminal Code of Canada when Im not in a criminal situation. 2) I saw a post recently regarding: Requesting CAS to provide you with a copy of your file, as per the Freedom of Information Act and how it doesnt apply to CAS because they are a private organization. In the files section here, there is a recently posted template of just such a letter. So can we use this or not? I ask, because when my lawyer requested a copy of my file from CAS, they said he would need to get a court order for them to comply, and that he was not to share a copy of it with me, destroy all copies once case resolved, and that a copy was not to remain in the continuing record. Thanks for any advice/feedback anyone can offer.
