I have a real soft spot in my heart for older, single, - TopicsExpress

I have a real soft spot in my heart for older, single, stay-at-home daughters. Often, they feel like they dont fit in. Their friends get married and have children and theyre still stuck at home with Mom and Dad. They deeply desire to be a wife and mother but theres no prospective young men in the picture and they struggle with their purpose, identity, and place in life. If you are one of those daughters, I got a small glimpse of your extraordinary worth this weekend. While Brad and I were at the homeschool conference, a 20-something young woman lived at our house for the weekend. Her name is Emily, but our 3-year-old affectionately calls her, Enemy. ;) She fed the kids breakfast, lunch, and dinner, baked cookies with them, took them for a walk, read books, gave them baths, washed all the dishes, and we returned to a spotlessly clean house. I didnt worry about the kids once while we were away. They were being taken care of by the oldest daughter in a homeschooling family of 9, and she is more capable and responsible than any other girl her age I know. Plus, our kids adore her. She has served our family dozens of times, especially during our last pregnancy when I was on bed-rest and needed help with meals and caring for the rest of our children. If you are single daughter, you are in a position to serve and bless the very families you desire to manage one day like no other. Being single doesnt make you any less effective or essential to Kingdom and Family building. Thank-you to all the Enemies who ignore the awkwardness of their place in life and use their gifts and talents to joyfully bless and serve others. You are treasures worth far above rubies and we mamas dont know what wed do with out you!
