I have always said and maintained and I still do that Afrika for - TopicsExpress

I have always said and maintained and I still do that Afrika for me is enough... My Afrika is the only place this brown skinned girl will feel at home and be at home... I have no greater dreams and aspirations of living and visiting Europe, England, middle east Asia, Australia, South America, and the United States of Amerika, nor will I use or save my money to visit those places when I havent yet seen Namibia, Angola, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Congo, Tanzania, Morocco, Egypt, Ethiopia, Malawi and fully explored this continent.. I dont believe theres anything those continents and countries has I need to assert and self determine my identity... All of me is deeply cconnected and rooted in this continent, it nurtures, heals and feeds me.. And my work honours and bows to these lands... The past two to three days have left me feeling extremely uncomfortable when I saw people take to Facebook to bash someone for choosing to not chemically treat, or even style their childs hair, by looking at the childs hair they are of the view its not washed and moisturized.. So to a majority of Afrikan Americans its abominable to leave your childs hair natural to a point that theres now a petition to force Beyonce and JZEE comb the childs hair... If that is not enough theres an article all over the internet about a girl breastfeeding her child after her graduation ceremony in college in public that has had that poor girl called all sorts of derogatory names; not by white people Indians nor Hispanic but by Afrikan Amerikans atleast most not all... According to the comments she shouldve covered herself, while breastfeeding is considered to be very beneficial in boosting your childs immunity against diseases it also fulfills an emotional development role in the childs development as its a time for a child and mother to bond.. My truth is where I come from breastfeeding is a norm and natural, its not designated to private and discreet places... To a point whereby a child would cry in public people will sometimes ask why osa mofe letswele why ungamuphi ibele why dont you breastfeed him or her.. These people have overlooked the one thing that picture beautifully displays in all her challenges of being pregnant, giving birth and raising her daughter she managed to graduate... And her education makes her no different from other mothers who still have a responsibility to their children... When Rihanna decided to go topless which happens a lot in South and Southern Afrika during a couple of traditional ceremonies I saw someone calling her a whore for Satan.. Irrespective of the reasons why people do what they do we have no right to be intolerant, disrespectful, cruel and inhumane towards one another... While my interactions with most Afrikan Amerikans have not been all negative, gloom and doom.. I dont think I want to be in a presence or place of negativity whereby the core objective is to bring each other down... I have seen and recieved far more love between my people travelling the rural areas of South Afrika, when I was in Lesotho and in Mozambique... Instead of the urbanized, colonized and whitened Gauteng I live in... Africa is my beginning and ending...
