I have an ad up on craigslist for utility musicians. When someone answers one of my ads and I am not interested in playing with them, I think the best reaction is no reaction at all and I just dont bother responding to their email. Since we have kept the ads anonymous, its just easier on both parties. Yesterday, I got a response from a guy who has contacted me before and I am not interested in playing with him for a number of reasons, the most important two being that he is just not what we are looking for and his ego is painfully larger than his skill set. Plus, every single ad in the last two years that I have posted looking for any musicians other than bassists on craigslist, he has answered. Which makes him appear to be very hard up for work, since he seems to be cruising those ads every day of his life. So, I opted to just ignore his email, which read as follows, Hello, my name is __________. I play screaming _____, wild _____ & moody _____. I usually don’t answer anonymous posts, so before we begin I’ll ask, what’s your name? Since I have spoken with him on the phone before, I could just hear the tone of voice so full of ego and arrogance when I read the email. After 24 hours of me not responding, I get this, You won’t even tell me your name? So I guess I’m wasting my time and effort by replying to your anonymous post. Wow! Hey, dude, that just changed my mind entirely and now I cant wait to be in a band with a psychotic drama king egomaniac... NOT!
