I have avoided getting involved in childish posts for the past year made by the promotor Bill Lyndon as well as Warrick Brant. However, I won’t sit by while they post about me ‘breaking my word’. For those of you in the community that know me personally, I don’t need to tell you I am a man of my word and try and help out the sport and athletes in any way I can, including: refereeing entry level to high level comps; appearing at strongman, powerlifting, and Crossfit events for free; and generally spreading this great sport to the general public as much as possible. This whole situation can be cleared up very simply by watching the video below. I never broke my word. Before the final event of the competition last year, this promoter said that, whoever wins the last event (myself or Dan) would win the ASM title, but Warrick is still the number 1 ranked strongman in Australia. BUT as Warrick was vying for the title of Southern Hemisphere’s Strongest Man he didn’t compete for the title of Australia’s Strongest Man. Let’s see who really broke their word (the person MC’ing is the Promoter, Bill Lyndon) – https://youtube/watch?v=AM0KdApIVx8&feature=youtu.be In this video (directly after we had the chat where I apparently said that Warrick was ASM, despite him not competing in the competition?) you can see the promoter introduce Dan Macri and myself before the Final event where I won title. He says very clearly – “The winner of this event is Australia’s Strongest Man 2014, and moves to Giants live next year in the professional ranks.” Funnily enough, in the video interview someone posted earlier from Channel 7, I even mention Warrick is the man to beat in Australia. Although I doubt Warrick or Bill watched it until the end to even see that bit. I find it offensive that this promoter states that I broke my word, when the video above clearly highlights how he repeatedly went back on his. To top this all off, where was the pro show invite? This promoter posted 3 or so days ago saying I was in the amateur competition, despite stating online in multiple places as well as in the above video that the winner of ASM moves up to the “Professional ranks” (pro show this year). However, this seems to be another bend of the truth to create a progression path for athletes that was never actually there. Now, just to clear some further facts up so people can know what else has actually happened. ASM 2014 was advertised as such for months beforehand. Inside Giants Live there was a second score card for the SHSM title; there was never mention that the comp titled Australia’s Strongest Man was anything but that. It wasn’t until 2 months and 1 week AFTER the event that this promoter tried to claim (due to Warrick being upset), that Warrick was the ASM title winner. This promoters Facebook page even strangely went down after the competition and resurfaced with all posts and marketing posters about ASM to removed. After re-joining Facebook he announced that the title of ASM had switched to Warrick and the ASM competition was only amateur. As I mentioned earlier, this was 2 months AFTER I won the ASM title. In the first comment to this post is a picture of the 2014 Australia’s Strongest Man trophy, which was given, by Bill the promoter, to me on the day I won the Australia’s Strongest Man title. I am sure that Dan Macri and Marc Wells also have trophies that have the exact same wording with a different placing. The competition was Australia’s Strongest Man. I could post many other points to underscore the type of promoter Bill is and how ‘well’ he looks after athletes, but I won’t stoop to his level of defaming people on a social media page. Moving forward I refuse to compete in any competitions run by Bill Lyndon and all of his businesses - Planet Hercules, SHSU or Aussie Power Events. They have been nothing but a farce. PS. I would also like a tax receipt/paid invoice for the $250 entry fee to last year’s competition Australia’s Strongest Man as I have not received one.
