I have been a firefighter for more than 29 years, I was at the Happy Land Fire, and the World Trade Center... I have lost more than 21 friends and brothers I knew personally to our profession. In the end, all I really wanted is to be left alone to do my job and mourn the loss of my friends.The likes of Ellie Brown-Patel, and Lindsey Smart will never change the love we have for our profession, and when the bell rings, we will go to help whomever needs it, whether they like us, vote for or against us, because we do what the job requires. I am deeply saddened that self absorbed people like them exist, and in the case of Ms. Smart, choose who she respects. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my friends, for the loss of our brothers in Boston, and everywhere else. I am deeply saddened.
