I have been challenged by Jayashree Chandrasekaran to list the books that have influenced me the most since childhood. Umm, my list would be amateurish to many ardent readers of books. Still, here goes the list of the ones that have stayed with me and will do in future too, in no particular order. 1. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2. Sams letters to Jennifer - James Patterson 3. Shantaram - Gregory David Roberts 4. My temporary son - Timeri N. Murari 5. The Fault in our Stars - John Green 6. A room of ones own - Virginia Woolf 7. A poem at the right moment compiled by Velcheru Narayana Rao and David Shulman 8. Kallikaatu Idhigaasam - Vairamuthu 9. A thousand splendid suns - Khaled Hosseini. Also, The Kite Runner 10. Harry Potter series, Nancy Drew, Famous five series, Goosebumps series, The princess Diaries, Sidney Sheldon(Master of the Game, Bloodline, If tomorrow comes, The Doomsday Conspiracy, The other side of midnight, A stranger in the mirror etc :D), Agatha Christies(Murder on the Orient Express, Peril at Endhouse, The body in the library, Poirot investigates, The Secret Adversary etc :D) :P I didnt put a lot of thought into it and Im quite sure that, soon, Im going to regret having shortlisted like this. There are many more books that are close to my heart which I havent mentioned because I was asked to share just 10. :| I now challenge Akshaya Naidu, Shreevarshini Krishnakumar, Gomathy Soundararaj, Sriparna Chakraborty, Keerthana Gopinathan, Krithiha Viswanathan, Arulmozhi N Mahesh, Georgina PremKumar, Sandya Ganesh, Stefy Esther to list the 10 books that have been close to your heart since childhood. Please dont think about it too much. Just put down those that come to your mind. Spread the joy by tagging your friends too, calling them in for a challenge once youre done with your list :)
