I have been in a Nashville state of mind for a week now, having spent time with Dave Mallet at his Maine farm last week (more on Dave and his new CD soon). But just now the wheels of that tiny plane are touching down in Presque Isle, Maine, south of CARIBOU, and aboard is Louis Glaser, from Nashville. Well, Franklin, TN. We are so excited that he is coming to ice fish for the first time with Tom, his former Tennessee soccer team player. I am making arrangements to put Louis inside a logging truck on Monday. Hhave you seen the Discovery show about northern Maine loggers? The Pelletiers? They are very distant relatives I only met briefly at their Millinocket restaurant. I know one of the first things Louies uncle Jim wanted to do when he visited here was ride in a loaded logging truck, back in the early 1980s. (Help me out, locals. Are they about 70 tons EMPTY or LOADED? I thought EMPTY?) I asked Louis if he wanted a ride and he said, Im game. Darlene is helping set it up. We wish he could stay longer than Monday, but the tiny little plane from Boston is on the ground now. Welcome to northern Maine, Mr. Glaser!
