I have been observing and analyzing whats going on across the country with the Shooting Deaths of men and women and the Grand Jury verdicts in the New York and Ferguson cases. I have not made a comment on the issue because I have been assessing the variables such as, economic/status, poverty, unemployment, low wage jobs, lack of quality education, and the criminalization of young men and women. These variables are fueling failure in our communities. In addition to a system in place that does not applaud individuality, creativity, values, growth, and diversity. The perpetuation of these issues will continue to lead us down paths of uncertainties. Hopelessness is the subject that I have heard most reflect upon from numerous people when the discussion arises on the millenniums. I have spent several hours listening and talking with young women leading the movement in Charlotte. I have been enlightened by their energy and commitment to lead us forward. I applaud them for taking up the charge. We must build relationships with each generation to understand their experiences. I am slow to judge the events I have seen in the past few weeks on the News due to my objectivity on the issues before us that took place in Ferguson because I have not walked in their shoes. This is their experience. Let us not attempt to own it but share it. They will lead, it is their time to carry their issues and propel their vision of what they desire the outcomes to be for their generation. I also know that when people are grieving from the loss of a loved one their emotions are unpredictable and their emotions move quickly between denial, anger, acceptance, and bargaining. This is a very tumorous time for these families, and communities all across the country. It behooves us not to be so quick to judge people reactions but to try and take a full view objectively at how we can build from these most critical moments. The question is Where do we Go from Here Chaos or Community? We are in Chaos now! How do we get to Community? Lastly, I do not condone violence of any kind, and look forward to change and a peaceful resolution on these issues, which will not come neatly packaged for us to unwrap. I am engaged mentally on the issues at hand!
