I have been spending the last several hours writing about Depression and the need for better understanding of this horrific illness, better methods of treatment, better education, and better language to use when speaking of Depression because the word depressed is almost useless when it comes to trying describe what Depression is. I will continue working on that post but for now I would just like to quote what Robin Williams wife Susan Schneider said in a statement in the New York Times because I believe from reading her words that she truly understood the Depression that Robin suffered from: Ms Schneider said: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings.” She added: “As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.” My prayer go out to all who loved Robin Williams because a man like this will surely be missed. For his wife Susan, my deepest sympathies and also my profound gratitude for choosing to be there from a man who battled depression and chooses to focus on the beauty of the time together rather than the current pain of her loss. She is a special human being. May she be blessed with more joyful days.
