I have been struggling all week with some of the issues going on in my culture and my life. I have wanted to post, but feared reprimand and/or loss of friends/family, but it is something that hits close to home for me. I share many of the same thoughts, ideas, feelings, and doubts that are causing a man, who I greatly admire, to be ostracized from something that has been important to him throughout his life. I have heard many times, that these espoused beliefs are not becoming of those in my culture, that they are apostate, and, regrettably, have lost friends and relationships because of these ideas. When weeks like this one happen, as they have a few times recently, I cant help but think that there isnt room for those who agree and feel this way, despite the words of President Uchtdorf in his recent talk Come Join With Us, and it is very disheartening. I guess, all I really want to do is voice my support for John Dehlin and hope that this will all work itself out. He is a good man. He has done so much for many of us that feel the way that we do, yet still want to have a place in something that has been a large part of our lives.
