I have been taught two important things in my life; I should never rely on someone else to make me happy, and I should never focus on the wedding more than the marriage. Both my parents have taught me these concepts by just going about their stupid days. The two of them have this deep-rooted, compassionate love for one another that isn’t flashy or obvious, it’s just there; subtle like my dad. I have seen it when they sneak a kiss, or hold hands while they walk the dog, when they laugh in the mornings or before they go to bed. I will never expect flowers on the table every night, or love songs and strawberries with champagne. What I will expect is trust, respect, loyalty and mutual understanding. I gained these expectations from my parent’s marriage, which has gone on for 30 years today. I’m so lucky to have you guys. Happy Anniversary. Margaret Church
