I have been thinking about running for school trustee for some time now. I have now officially thrown my hat into the ring and decided this was the year. It is important to understand the impact that the teachers strike had on the relationships between teachers and the community. Now is the time to repair those relationships and move forward. Teachers and parents cannot work in isolation in regards to the education of their children. We must work as a team, together to get the best outcomes we can for our children. We must recognize the importance of cooperation and the promotion of a quality educational system. Programs that develop the holistic individual and nurture the innate fascination with learning is paramount in engaging children in their own learning. As a community we must care for all our children, especially those with disabilities, special needs and those who are marginalized by other factors to provide a safe, respectful, caring, engaging and quality educational experience. As a teacher and an educational consultant I believe I have the expertise and experience that can make a difference in our community.
