I have been to places that dont value the personal tales and I have been with others who disregard told tales, the fairy and folk. Some go as far to dismiss them. Little do they realize the mortar of the personal is embedded in the tales of fairy and folk tradition. There is value in all tales. it is gift to want personal, but dont quickly regard the old tales that have accentuated our voices. It is a rich joy to listen to the fairy and folk world come alive with the teller lips and sound. It is invaluable to have personal tales in an evening and another time fairy worlds emerge. Our varied voice and captive ears make us think with each tale. What I caution is to quickly dismiss yourself from these tales. Whether listener or teller, there is room for stories. Every tale we listen to has a little bit of us in it. We see it as we see it. We experience it as we experience it. Sometimes we are not ready for the tale, I know I have had to do more homework to enter certain worlds. Please recognize that we need levels and degrees of story in our lives. We can become aware of ourselves after hearing a Selkie legend and from recounting the drunk days of college. Tell on. Listen well. We will grow because all the voices make a concert of wonder.
