I have experienced a fair amount of difficulty with Apple Computer - TopicsExpress

I have experienced a fair amount of difficulty with Apple Computer Inc. I am attaching a complaint I made to Apple. If you are experiencing similar problems with them please contact me and let me know what you are experiencing. September 12, 2014 Ladies & Gentlemen of Apple Incorporated, I have been using MacIntosh and/or Apple Computers for example an early MacIntosh Fx, 840 AV, Macintosh 900, a Mac Clone, 4 iMac’s, Power Mac G3, and a Power MacG5, if I am correct thats ten of your computers since 1987. I worked for Alabama Power Company, part of The Southern Company, where I had a position in management in the Media Services Department. The position put me in charge of providing media such as Desktop Publishing, Graphic Arts, Video productions on Sony Beta Workstations and a satellite uplink for communication for the Upper Management i.e. Vice Presidents, President and CEO, and The Board Of Directors of Alabama Power Company with it’s employees. When I took the position the only resource for Graphics and 35MM Slides was created on a Genigrapics Work Station. It was a very expensive and archaic system. It could nearly handle text as didn’t had no way to import text or to spell check. In 1987 I took the responsibility of restructuring the resources for the Graphics Artists and The Media Services Department. The Alabama Power used only PC’s and Main frame computers with a very incapable Desk top system that the company trashed in three years. We had over 24,000 employees and most all supervisors and other employees received a networked terminal system designed by a company that went out of business. Alabama Power Company was forced to eliminate their terminal computer system. During this time I began to make a study on computers resources for the purpose for creating Graphics and Video. I researched many different Computer Magazines and books as to what was available for the Departments use. After an extensive study I wrote a justification and a budget for the purchase of MacIntosh computers and software for over ten graphic work stations. I also wanted to replace the Genigrapics Work Station that was no longer being made and the maintenance contract for just the Genigrapics Workstation and a small network and a 35 mm camera was over $100,000.00 per year. I was the first employee of the Alabama Power Company & The Southern Company to request a MacIntosh Computer. Our IR Department claimed that MacIntosh Computers were not a serious business computer system and had no place in out future purchases or networking cost forecasts. My job was very difficult to right a justification to management for the purchase of eleven Apple computers and an either net network backbone to communicate with other data systems. In spite of the opposition of many supervisors, managers and executives I completed the justification for the first Apple product purchased by Alabama Power Company. I achieved the authority to specify and order the Apple computers and software the computers without the assistance of the Information Resources Department. They were very concerned about my making the expensive investment with Apple computer for Alabama Power Company. I was completely unaware at the beginning of my research that Apple Computers existed. After I learned much about both Microsoft, IBM PC’s, and finally the MacIntosh Fx and other 840 AV and Power Mac 900s as they became available. I was the second person in the state of Alabama to utilize the FX Macintosh Computer with Adobe Photoshop over 37 years ago. I was indeed very fortunate and he resistance to my justification was difficult but after I demonstrated the efficiency of the FX computer and Photoshop, and a Sapphire Digital Camera for $100,000.00. Hence, the company I was employed by were very pleased with the effectiveness of the graphical MacIntosh computers and systems. The after several months it was agreed that I had made a very intuitive and intelligent decision. I have retired from Alabama Power Company in 1993. I have purchased just about every new Mac computer and software that you have created. Just recently I purchased an expensive but very capable iMac OS X Version 10.9.4 iMac 27” computer with 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 system with 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and a wifi system that I network with the earlier version of the iMac which is also in my home. As I am now retired and disabled and living on a fixed income I struggled to make my recent investment. Unfortunately the Apple software is becoming very frustrating. The quality I had depended on in my profession and home use has is vastly disappearing and I am very, very concerned, frustrated, disappointed and somewhat disillusioned. If things remain constant with your products I will be forced to terminate my relationship with your corporation. I also use an iPhone which has been a fairly good investment, however it seems that the management of Apple since the death of Mr. Jobs has concentrated on other markets for profit than your initial offerings of quality computing products. I don’t see how such an intelligent corporation could so blindly turn its back on its original repeat customers. Sadly, it very well seems that your concerns for profit in the telecommunications market has created a neglect for your computer systems and software. I feel this is a most serious situation. I don’t think you will be so fortunate in the future as you have now apparently neglected your original consumers. I have almost lost my faith in your management abilities. I no longer speak to my associates and friends of how wonderful your computer offerings are. In the past I have advised many people to invest in you computers and software. As things stand now, I can no longer in good faith suggest your systems to any one. I have just reviewed you latest software offering of iMovie and I am sorely disappointed. It is as bad as your new releases of Quicktime, Pages, and Numbers. This is seriously obtuse as the soft wear apparently is disintegrating with each new release. How you can releases new products that are less efficient than the previous version is incomprehensible! This has been one of the my greatest disappointments since I became an Apple customer. At this point I am beyond being concerned and angry! I am concerned due to your apparent poor quality management. I am very well aware of the fact that you don’t have the time to respond to your customers, and this even angers me more. How you could fail to communicate with your most valuable resource such as your original business partners is beyond my belief. I was severely angered that you even wanted to charge for the last upgrade of iMove as I just purchased it this year. As for now I would not give you two cents for your inept iMove Upgrade. I just had gotten over the new releases of Quicktime being lesser that the older versions as I have to run both the current version of Quicktime and Quicktime 7. My inability to utilize your media software with web sites such as youtube and others is most terrible. How could you let Adobe out class you with Final Cut Pro is beyond my imagination. And to make things worse Adobe has started making monthly charges for it’s software. Does Apple Inc. have any plans to do like wise? It is with the most in trepidation that I write this letter. I am now in my sixties and I am about to start researching about the abilities of Linux or Windows as a future resource along with Google and Samsung. I am seriously thinking of having a yard sale to get rid of all my Apple products. I sincerely hope you understand the gravity of this situation. I have brought your corporation many thousands of dollars if not millions of dollars as a consumer and an advocate forApple computers. Now the future appears bleak. I humbly request that you, in spite of your inability to communicate with your customers via email, please respond with me post haste. You can call me at (205) 277-9569 or write me at my address, Jack N. Guyton, 3007 Circle Drive, Bessemer, Al 35023. I have an email address witch is very ladened with communications. I have great difficulty appropriately responding to my email as I get as many as 700 emails every day or so. I do not wish you any damage but for the record I want you to know that I am going to post a copy of this letter openly on Facebook to gather more information as to the disappointment of other remaining customers. I would greatly appreciate the ability to post your response for my many thousands of contacts on the internet as to your current position to these issues and what your future plans may be to resolve this problem. Do you feel the need to have a plan for addressing these pertinent issues. Sincerely Yours, Jack N. Guton Jack Guyton
