I have far more of a salt tooth than a sweet tooth. A bit of salt can make very healthy foods even more palatable, and lets face it, if we dont enjoy what we eat what is the point? There is still a debate over whether sodium should be restricted to the levels that are currently recommended. Firstly, very few people are meeting the current sodium intake requirements (as in most of us are exceeding the target). Secondly, salt from processed foods is not healthful. Thirdly, if you have high blood pressure you have a good chance of benefitting from a reduced sodium diet and one that is high in potassium and magnesium (ie a plant-based diet).
