I have finally got the wheels on my Mirror Models Diamond T Wrecker... what a kit, for those of you who dislike Dragon kits because of their complexity and the number of small parts... this is not the model truck for you. But all in all in spite of the annoying gates on the parts, the kit is going together reasonably well (most of the time) if not somewhat slowly due to the complexity of the kit... detail is superb though, best I have ever seen on a 1/35th scale truck And of course I had to make things worse for myself by deciding to fit a spare set of wheels from the Tamiya M-26 Dragon Wagon to it... sounds relatively simple? Not at all, the rear differentials had to be moved apart by about 6mm to allow for the larger tyres, and then the suspension links had to be lengthened to compensate and the drive shafts lengthened (and shortened) to get it all to fit... I imagine they had the same problem when they modified the real truck too. of course the Tamiya wheels were not made to fit this kit either so more modifications there... when I started fitting everything I discovered that the inner wheels of the rear bogies fouled the suspension... so back to the reference photos to check... and sure enough the real truck has only the outer wheel fitted, so I guess they couldnt get around that problem either... More photos to come once I get some more work done to it. ようやくミラー社ダイヤモンドレッカーのタイヤが届きましたよ。このキット・・・ドラゴン社のキットが好きじゃない、なぜなら組み立てが面倒で細かいパーツだらけで・・・そんな人にこれは向かないかも知れません(^^；)でもそれが苦にならないのならこのキットはかなりいいですよ(おおよそは)組み立てはとても時間がかかります。ディティールはとても素晴らしく1/35スケールでは最高ですね。 そしてもちろん自分でもっと面倒くさい事、タミヤ社M-26ドラゴンワゴンのタイヤに変えるという作業もしています。言うのは簡単ですけどね。後ろのタイヤを6mm動かします。なぜなら大きさが違うのでね。サスペンションを延ばしてドライブシャフトは片方を延ばし、もう片方を短くしてフィットさせます。実際の車でもきっと同じ作業をするんだろうな、と想像しました。 もちろんタミヤ社のタイヤはこれにフィットするように作られていません。この作業を始めた時に、インサイドの後ろのボギーがサスペンションに引っかかるのを発見しました。なので画像を見なおし、本物のトラックはアウトサイドのタイヤはフィットしてますがインサイドは違いました。なのでこの問題は起こらないのですね・・・。もう少し作業が進んだらまた画像アップします(^^)
