I have found over the years that the entire Easter season can be a bit difficult for a lot of exJWs. I think the biggest reason is because its so close to their annual memorial. For years, that big full moon in the sky near Easter was a HUGE trigger for me. While I was a Christian I did celebrate Easter, going to the sunrise service and then having a big meal with the family. I honestly appreciated the implication of such a grand sacrifice. Now that Im a non-theist, I just enjoy the coming of spring and the rebirth of the earth in my neck of the woods. Easter Day is a time spent with family, enjoying good food and conversation as everyone comes out of hibernation for the winter. Those once-turbulent feelings are gone, and I no longer worry if Im doing the right ritual or observance. I guess what Im trying to say is that were all in different emotional or spiritual places--Ive been in several. So, be kind to each other and honor the recovery journey that is unique to each of us, and can lead us in any number of directions.
