I have good news, and not so good news. Good news first! All of Traes labs and xrays came back great. His lungs are clear, working great and the doctors feel like this breathing pattern of his is just the new norm for him. Some of his damage was in the stem area of the brain, which controls your breathing. We only noticed it because he was breathing loudly. When you look at him, you cant tell it. They think he may have been doing this all along and we are just now picking up on it. Thanking the good Lord for no problems there. As for the not so good news, I just spoke with the neuro surgeon who did his pump implant. He is concerned about the infection more so than Traes general doctor. He says we can wait to see if the antibiotics are going to work, but in doing so we are running a huge risk of letting the infection spread to the spinal area thus possibly setting up meningitis. Therefore, we have chosen to go ahead with the removal at this point. That is a risk I am not willing to take. However, the infection is not at the pump site itself, but the catheter site. He will leave the pump in place and remove only the catheter. After the infection is cleared up and he has completely healed they will go back in and place another catheter, hopefully within the next month. They will be doing the surgery in the morning, so please keep him in your prayers that this all goes well! Putting this all in Gods hands!! Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers!! God bless!! #pray4trae
