I have hinted at it but want to say a bit more. Three weeks ago to the day I underwent total knee replacement surgery. My right knee is now bionic yall. I am in the process of writing a longer piece about the experience for my Tumblr page (Robinsworld.tumblr) But as I am completing the first phase of recovery I wanted to say a couple words now First, The Hospital for Special Surgery is Number One in the Country for Orthopedics for a reason. Dr. Steven Haas my surgeon is truly the knee whisperer His minimally invasive technique works as I was able to walk out five days later on a cane. Everyone on staff made you feel as if you were their only charge. Second, I had intensive home care through Visiting Nurse Services. The Physical Therapist Arthur Lizaso was simply amazing. He made me challenge myself and go past my comfort zone. As a result I have gained all of my flexibility back, and can bend my knee normally. Now I head to outpatient PT for 3 months of additional therapy focused on strengthening. My nurse Hope was great checking on me consulting with Dr. Haas office when needed, and providing reassurance. Now I still have a way to go in my recovery and new challenges like going back to work. And painkillers are my new besties. But with this foundation, I know I am going to be ok. And will be doing the wobble by Christmas if not before. Thank you for your get well wishes. I owe folk telephone calls, graduation & off to college gift &,referrals. Please know I have not forgotten
