I have just looked back at correspondence from MAYA BOYD and discovered I had missed her Harry Story until now. I once asked Harry what he thought he would be like if he had been born female. I would be Maya! he said without missing a beat. Harry Story from Maya Boyd sent June 24th: I first met Harry in 2006, when he and my ex-boyfriend, Will, roomed together in Barcelona. Id just got back from living in Argentina and Will said to me, Youve got to meet my new friend Harry. Youre going to die. Well that was as good a recommendation as any, and Harry didnt disappoint - he immediately took me into his bedroom to show me his trader set-up - two massive, gleaming computer screens side-by-side on an ancient wooden dressing table in a gloomy, old-school Spanish tenement building. The juxtaposition was jarring on the eye, but I suppose its reflective of Harry himself; spiritual yet vivacious; thrill-seeking yet home-loving, independent yet deeply loyal; a wanderer who always returns home. The boyfriend came and went, but my and Harrys friendship has grown and deepened to become one of those unique, lasting bonds, whereby we can go without speaking for months, yet Ill welcome him to bunk in my bed for a week off the back of a single late-night phone call. And thats always been the basis of our friendship. Hey Harry, Im in New York! Lets hang! or Mayaaaaaa! Im in Miami/Ibiza/London - I wanna seeeee you!. And thats all it takes - other plans are cancelled, theatre seats are left empty, restaurant reservations are abandoned - Harry is in town and we have a DATE! Theres never been a romantic element to our friendship, although we took to calling each other Hubby and Wifey a long time ago. Harry is so protective - Im sure any of his female friends will attest to that - and hes the kind of guy that you just LOVE to have on your arm on a night out. We had many such nights in Miami when Harry stayed with me and my girlfriend GiGi. He squired us around South Beach like a true gentleman - picking up tabs, hailing cabs, and holding up a back away, friend hand when other guys may have got a little too close. Thats not to say he didnt have his eyes peeled though - one morning I woke up to no Harry and the following message in my Facebook inbox; Hahaha andddd youre not just the greatest person ever....but youre the greatest pa too!! I think I texted 2 or 3 girls from your phone last night so will be interesting to see who I wind up having dinner with....cant waittttt to see you laterrrr!!. Thanks Haz. I remember being on a beach together in Ibiza in 2009 - I was living there and Harry came to stay (last minute, of course) - and I coined the term Haradise when we were trying to figure out how to describe where Harry lives. You live in Haradise! I exclaimed. When I asked him what was needed in Haradise, that he didnt already have, Harrys answer was, A great big cloak and a Fabergé egg. Such a wacko, that boy. When I got married in 2012, I was so upset that Harry couldnt come, but it would have meant multiple flights criss-crossing Asian islands and it just didnt work out. I was devastated because I would miss him, but also because Id been dying to show him off to all my friends; this wild, rugged, handsome, tanned, charming adventurer with impeccable manners and a glint in his eye. That would be really something, to have a guy like that at your wedding. Mostly Harry, I miss your emails. They always begin with My loooooooove, my love, my love…... I love that. Mainly I just love HARRY xxx -Maya And so do I. Ann, Harrys Mom
