I have just spoken to AOL about my frozen account. Unfortunately, it was closed along with a number of others by the person who set it up, and AOL will not let me reopen it or retain my user name. The operator accepted the proof of who I am, the details of my holidays etc contained within my emails and said "I am sure that this is you Michael, however only the person whose name appears on the account can make changes". My response, "Thank you for sticking to the rules, for a lack of understanding and a total absence of any common sense, it has been nice talking to you as my mouth needed the exercise". I am a bit p*ssed off, all it needed was for a phone call to AOL who would have allowed me to keep my user address and details. Now I have to contact dozens of people I deal with and have lost my address book!
