I have known a couple people who have lived off the grid in tents on and off. Do any of you have experience doing this? I have considered it a few times. My friend from the army lived in the woods in a tent in Kansas while he was in med school. He ate off the land a lot and did not rely on utilities. He said the secret to avoiding issues with park officials was to have your camp packed up before first light and avoid setting up close to roads or trails.
