I have noticed a large amount of blame being put at the feet of minorities in the UK regarding the erosion of our customs and way of life, that our leaders are leaning towards them, and that the UK isnt what it was. I strongly believe multiculturalism isnt the problem, culture constantly develops, people are easily bored, seen one Morris dance, seen them all, seen one Christmas panto, enough already. The biggest reason for our lack of UK culture in my humble opinion is twofold......Simon Cowshit, Strictly come sitting on yer sofa, and My big fat Gypsy Disneyland, we are all far too busy watching gripping TV programs and internet trends to support our local cultural events, Live Bands, Plays, Art & Photographic Exhibitions, Fairs, Galas, they are all struggling to compete, it is you who didnt support local arts, not the Asian, African or Eastern European Community, they brought their Culture to the UK and continue to support it, maybe not to our taste, but they cling on to it passionately, we just let ours go, we spend a massive proportion of our income on self expression, new clothes, cars, toaster, TV etc, this curbs investment in community activity, Also I am always saddened by the we are too skint comments, we cant support the school fair because our BMW repayments swallow all our non essential cash? Our £3000 holiday means we dont support the local sports club, Arts group etc.All the spare cash goes on imports. My hope is that people tire of going along with fashion and start to appreciate what is really important, Creativity, Appreciation and Culture, so next time a friend asks if you are going to their next Gig/Play/Show etc, make an effort, dont sit there blaming other cultures for the erosion of yours, keep your car a year longer and invest what you saved in local communities, get out there and see the real world, the one that isnt behind a television screen or windscreen!
