I have spent the last 2 days surrounded by hundreds of medical professionals committed to improving our understanding of the impact of tongue tie and lip tie on breastfeeding. Discussions with pediatricians, family practice doctors, dentists, lactation consultants, body workers, and speech pathologists have been some of the most rewarding discussions Ive had in my professional career. I want to thank the Central Illinois Breastfeeding Task Force who arranged this great meeting. Its these kind of conferences that are going to ripple through communities. Every talk, every meeting, every positive interaction where a mom and baby are helped with further everyones understanding of the issues surrounding breastfeeding medicine. It will take some time. But thats ok. Were not going anywhere.
