I have the opportunity to read a rubbish, disgusting, annoying and obsessive article wrote by a person called H. Hirsi, on January 4, 2014, and published on Ethiomedia-an African-American news and views website, under the headline:”Wrong statue in Jigiga town”. Really I was one of millions of people at home, Horn of Africa and abroad, who were vehemently outraged and offended by short-sighted, vicious, aggressive and controversial attitude of the said writer, against Sayid Mohamed. The defamatory, dubious and unprincipled opinion expressed by Mr Hirsi, has misrepresented the true history of the revolutionary struggles undertook by hero Sayid Mohamed Abdullah Hassan against the European colonial powers in Horn of Africa. These blatant, unwarranted and dangerous allegations against the warrior and hero Sayid Mohamed, are totally baseless and fabricated. They were designed to defame and stain the authentic history of Sayid Mohamed. These unfounded allegations can’t tarnish in any way, the reputation and dignity of the internationally renowned revolutionary, Sayid Mohamed. They also cannot change the genuine and true history of Sayid Mohamed’s liberation struggles against the European colonial powers, namely, the British and Italian colonial forces. Surely, Mr Hirsi’s obsessive and malicious statement cannot change the eternal and broad respect, admiration of our masses and peoples of Horn of Africa toward Sayid Mohamed. It is an undeniable fact that Sayid Mohamed was a warrior, liberator, political thinker, knight and revolutionary poet who sacrificed his life, and fought fiercely and aggressively against the British and Italian colonialists in Ogaden and Somalia, with the objective of liberating his people from the yoke of colonialism, occupation and bondage. During the 19th century, many African liberation movements in Horn of Africa, were inspired by Sayid Mohamed’s revolution. It is a well known fact that Sayid Mohamed’s revolution was the first liberation movement in Africa, which had been exposed to the British warplanes’ excessive raids. Certainly, Sayid Mohamed had been and will continue to be an icon and symbol of liberation struggles not only for the people of Horn of Africa but also the whole Africa. Comparison is Impossible The most striking thing in this rubbish and disgusting article was that Mr Hirsi has compared hero Sayid Mohamed to the terrorist Ahmed Godane, the leader of Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab international terrorist organisation. Hence, it is a crime, foolish, shameful, illogical and impossible to compare hero Sayid Mohamed, freedom fighter and liberator to Ahmed Godane who is a high profile international terrorist, leader of Al-Shabab-Al-Qaeda international terrorist organization, which had involved in mass killings and massacres of hundreds of thousands of innocent somalians, Kenyans, Ethiopians, Ugandans and other foreign nationals. Remember, hero Sayid Mohamed had adopted a strategic vision for liberation, freedom and independence, where he and his revolutionaries took up arms against the European colonial powers, with the aim of liberating there people from foreign invaders. While Ahmed Godane, the high profile international terrorist, leader of Al-Shabab-Al-Qaeda international terrorist group, has adopted a terrorist doctrine which aims at annihilating and ruining mankind and their civilisation on the globe. Al-Shabab-Al-Qaeda which is flying black flag that is a symbol of international terrorist, has engaged in crusade campaign for human cleansing in Africa and the world. Al-Shabab-Al-Qaeda has no Somali and African identity. Mr. Hirsi’s wrong perception, defamatory and aggressive attitude against Sayid Mohamed and his heroic deeds, has clearly indicated his deep rooted grudge, and animosity toward the African hero. Unfortunately, while Mr. Hirsi defamed and blemished the idealized history of Sayid Mohamed, he also praised the British and Italian colonial forces which conquered Africa and plundered its abundant natural resources. Mr. Hirsi has failed to understand and conceive that millions and millions of people in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti and around the world, hold a broad, unqualified support, respect, love and admiration for hero Sayid Mohamed. Meanwhile, Mr Hirsi’s defamatory and spiteful article was designed to defame and tarnish the reputation of his excellence Abdi Mohamed Omar, President of the Somali Regional state (SRS). Based on his clannishly driven hostile attitude, Mr Hirsi’s comparison between President Abdi Mohamed and Sayid Mohamed was intended to slander and discredit the both heroes. But for us, the comparison of president Abdi with Sayid Mohamed is considered as a praise and admiration for president Abdi who committed himself to defend his country from internal and external enemy. Really, it is not part of the African history, culture and ethics to defame and tarnish reputation and image of the great African heroes who fought against the European colonial forces for freedom and independence of their peoples. It is clear that Mr Hirsi’s defamatory and antagonistic attitude against Sayid Mohamed and President Abdi, has emanated from deep rooted clannishly driven hatred and enmity. Apparently, Mr Hirsi must be a grandson or great grandson or follower of those mercenary tribesmen in northern Somalia (current Somaliland), who sided with the British colonial forces against the great hero of Africa, Sayid Mohamed, and his revolution. It is a crime, unethical and more disgraceful to defame and stain the glorified history of the beloved hero, Sayid Mohamed. In my opinion, it was appropriate historic decision and historic occasion to revive and renew the glorified history of Sayid Mohamed by erecting his statue in Jigiga town. While its inauguration by his excellence PM Haile Mariam Desalegn of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, during celebration of the day of the Ethiopian nations, nationalities and peoples in Jigiga, is also absolutely appropriate occasion. I feel I have the moral duty to commend the leadership of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Somali Regional state for erecting and inaugurating statue of the hero Sayid Mohamed Abdullah Hassan.
