I have waited all day to see some liberal bashing Christopher Columbus. Let me clear up a few of the little details liberals cant seem to grasp. Everything this article states is most likely true, but the rules and thought processes of Columbuss day do not apply to 21st century America. Anyone not a catholic was a heretic or a heathen, each shared an equal status with an animal in the eyes of the church. Neither one had souls, and God rebuked them all, so committing atrocities against Indigenous peoples was no worse to a 15th century Catholic European than a man going deer hunting today. So what he never made it to American soil, there was no America back then, America was not his planned destination. He did however take extreme risk from the church labeling him a heretic for being a free thinker, risking the money of the royal family could prove deadly upon failure, and risked going to sea with a superstitious crew that could revolt at anytime took some real balls. He crossed a daunting span of ocean with little or no charts, He basically went on a suicide mission based on a hunch, he was the quintessential risk taker. He was the poster child of adventure and bravery. Yes Columbus’ men would be considered rapists and murderers today, but not back then. They never thought they were doing wrong. Its easy to live in todays world and pass judgment on people of the past. If most of you were alive back in the early 1800s, you would not be rooting for the Indians. Indigenous people had no rights, they were considered worthless. Some even considered them demonic and of Satin Columbus enslaved the native people for gold, consumers today enslave children, all over the world for crap like clothes and tennis shoes. Women that wear expensive jewelry are enslaving 3rd world peoples for their personal vanity. Nations throughout history have extorted resources from weaker people. Americans had slaves 350 years after Columbus died. Our forefathers enslaved blacks for materials a lot less valuable than gold. So your going to judge Christopher Columbus for slavery, but not Thomas Jefferson? Oh yeah Tommy boy was doing the help too, Lets give ole Christopher Columbus a break. Lets stop ripping him a new asshole every year because he did what every white person of European decent did in his time. These indigenous people could have killed the shit out of him and set Europe back another 200 years, but i guess they wernt that smart. Most people hate Christopher Columbus because they dont get the day off, so they come up for an excuse to guilt those that do. I bet your ass the people at the post office love Columbus day. And you cant use the excuse that Christopher Columbus didnt do anything for you, because Martin Luther King did nothing for me, but I will damn sure take his day off. .
