I havent seen the film so I wont speak on it. But the principle of voting for something without actually seeing it due to popular opinion or social pressure is an absolute disgrace. Exactly why the academy awards are an absolute joke and have been for a long time. It all started with art carney winning best actor for Harry and tonto over Jack Nicholson in Chinatown and even more egregious, Al Pacino in The Godfather Part II who was on a whole other level over the other nominees. And since then its been a series of gift awards for past mistakes, blatant highway robberies, playing favorites, and political bullshit. As a hardcore film buff I find this outrageous. These two voters should have their voting rights revoked much like dan le batard had his hall of fame vote revoked by the baseball writers of America for selling his vote to deadspin. Im sure 12 years is a phenomenal film but Jesus, is it so much to ask for somebody to actually see the film before voting for it? This hurts the already damaged integrity of the oscars even more.....
