I heard the most disturning thing today. A friend of mine from back in MI, whos little boy was friends with Wolfie, fell into a fire over the weekend. He got 2nd degree burns and an infection starting, mostly due to his fathers lack of concern. See, the boy was in his fathers care, and the boy is so scared of this man, he didnt tell his dad right away, but went and got a wet towel and laid it over his own arm, and just cried. The next morning, when Dad came out of his drunken haze, he poured peroxide over the burns. This man has been charged with assault on his other child, and had to attend "parenting classes" ,and he got visitation again. He has had CPS called on him before, and yet nothing is being done. The mother feels so helpless. Stuff like this makes me sick. We talk about kids falling through the cracks, we see story after story of abused kids, and sometimes those kids end up dead. And yet THIS kind of shit is allowed to go on. This man is obviously a danger to the children. In fact, the simple fact that a child is too scared of a parent to tell them they fell into a fire should be warning sign enough, and that doesnt even count the numerous times this boy and his other children have been put in harms way. Whats it gonna take, a small, dead body to wake up the courts?? This is the kind of stuff that makes me sad. This is the kind of stuff we need to focus on, as a country. Not keeping from marrying who they love, not fixing every other countries issues. Lets step back and take a deep long look at the atrocities that are happening here, now. My thoughts are with them.
