I heard this court appointed heartless, worthless, wicked, incompetent, lazy Minister of Health in the Nevis Island Administration, Mr. Mark Brantley, speak to the reasons for the governments decision to distance itself from the kidney screening exercise that took place over the last two days. According to Lying King, the screening exercise lacked certain elements that were necessary for the governments support, chief of which was the withholding of findings from the administration. It appears such data will not be shared with the Ministry of Health on either island by the survey collection group. A data pool of about 2000 of a roughly 55,000 population significantly helps us to understand the prevalence of kidney related illness and perhaps the leading lifestyle contributors that bring about such conditions. Mr. Brantley and the Ministry under his charge erred however when directives were issued which prohibited public servants in the health sector form assisting in the project. Just as important as the data is to the government is the knowledge to the people who went for the tests. The nurses and other public servants were denied from helping their own Nevisians to receive free renal diagnosis. These folk would have then had an idea of their kidney health and it would have been most accommodating where the CCM government had a chance to prove they care and put the interest of the people first but they refuse. Our leaders need to learn that politics is the art of compromise - so said Max Weber in his treatise Politics as Vocation. There are some gains we may have to pass up for the greater good of the people. Public health advocates encourage being tested often in as many areas as early detection saves lives. Imagine this opportunity could have been denied of near 1000 Nevisians for the sake of a battle royal over the ownership and sharing of data. To compound this, Mr. Brantley knows that he has already fail the people of Nevis in his first year in office for not installing the dialysis unit at the Alexander Hospital as a result of cut throat politics on his part. Now he is prepared to fan the embers and reignite the flames of the critics and the perception that he has no consideration for the diagnosis of the people , just as he had no consideration for the care of those already diagnosed. Mr. Brantley lost sight of the fact that the compromise of no valuable data could have led to the opportunity for further data negotiations after the fact, and by doing this the joker would have risen to the status of a statesman. But by allowing the actions of titt-for-tatt the Minister proven he is very incompetent and that he was no different to the political barbarian that he had in times past portrayed the Prime Minister of the nation as being. Mr. Brantley forgot to pray the Pauline prayer, When I myself have condemned others, Lord let me not be equally condemned. Oh, what a glorious opportunity there was for the Minister to work with friends and foes alike in the interest of the very voters he fought so hard to secure their rights. What a glorious opportunity he had to touch the people of Nevis on a personal level. Sadly, he gave it up. He gave each opportunity to show them whos the boss. CCM/Unity regime are just there to collect a paycheck they dont care about our people where is the love where is the compassion for Nevisians?? The health minister seems to dont understands that he suppose to have a mandated interest in seeking the best care for the people, even when that care is administered by his political adversary. The people and their interests must not be sacrificed to stroke ones political ego and desire for justice. I think Mr. Brantley need revisit position on the recent kidney testing project in Nevis and see his error in such a position. He need to understand that they are all men and women under authority and not authoritarians - where it is my way or the highway. As public servants we all must always act in the best interest of the people.... Mr. Brantley was out of order on this issue then going brag about it. Nevisians we will have a chance to correct all this nonsense soon.
