I homeschool my son because he should not have to face the discrimination and racism against Native children that is a part of schools. Our Native children are learning to cope with this in a very hard way. They see non-Native kids progressing when they are not, and they know that non-Native kids are getting more opportunities, and see themselves falling behind. When they have issues, there is no one to help them cope with what they are dealing with. When they fight discrimination they are not listened to, they are often blamed, and even sent to jail.
