I hope I dont get any stick for this posting, but heres something that really excited me on a DVD called The Art of Violin about ten years ago, which Ive just found is now on YouTube. Youd probably never spot the G&S connection without this heads-up, and I doubt many other people would even have spotted who I did in this, but I was watching it late one night and got the splittest-secondest shot of someone that I felt sure was who I thought it was - and it IS. It was a jump-out-of-my-seat-and-grab-the-remote moment and I was like a kid in a candy store (thats a sweet shop to us Brits!) because, brief as it might be, there is no other available film of him. It was confirmed for certain when I sent an old friend (who had known him) some screengrabs and he was also able to identify the lady sitting next to him as being his wife. I mentioned this on Savoynet at the time. If you go to 1h 18m 33s youll be in the middle of a film sequence of an auction for antique fiddles and the camera goes into the crowd and someone must have realised who this chap was because we get a close-up of none other than - well, YOU tell ME !!!!!! His wife is not so visible in this shot but a few seconds further on we get a high shot of the crowd from behind and hes to the lower left of the screen with her on his left in a fur hat. Check it out for yourself. I think youll find Im not wrong !!!
