I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and we have loved our family and friends suffering from addictive behaviors as well. I know it is often times hard to say I love you when things in our sober lives seem OK, but in their lives things are not OK. We will learn a lot about this dynamic this year. Leslie Bailey will be teaching the SMART RECOVERY friends and family courses this year, Actually, the last half of February. This will be well advertised on a billboard and we will begin asking families, family members, moms, dads, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins....well... you get the picture, to join in our weekly meetings. Meetings arent only for persons with addictions... I wonder if you knew that? We usually do not see it that way since we are not the persons who have the addiction. There is lots esplaining to do here, as Desi said to Lucy. We want you to come and hear and to participate in what we have to say and what information you need in effort to help yourselves and the persons you and we love. For those of you that have been in Alanon or an Alanon based program, this is not it. So dont expect Alanon principles and meeting material. We are SMART based and we will definitely explain this to all of you. Dont miss this...YOU REALLY WANT TO HEAR THIS! I will be posting times and dates for the roll out of FRIENDS and FAMILY soon. We are now having SMART RECOVERY meetings at Fayette Regional Hospital Training and Education room on MON and Thurs. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for those persons attempting or that are in recovery now. WE HAVE MUCH more coming.....THE Correctional REHABILITATION portion will be being presented to the Fayette Corrections group on January 8th. This could be on of the best things to come into our correctional facility yet. The Union County Sherriff has already contacted us to discuss what we are doing in Connersville. W will be doing a presentation in Union County in the near future. Linda Rush rye will be the facilitator, teacher and trainer for this portion when we begin the roll out. This is still being addressed with the Corrections Department but so far this is looking very promising since we are now working with those clients from the correctional department now. Again, I will post times and dates when this portion is ready. Now a new piece of news...The Childrens Bureau contacted me Friday morning. They want us to work with young parents that have lost their children due to addictions and for other reasons, who have children that are living in other homes due to whatever circumstances and/or are in DCS placement, The have asked us to start working with these young people to help them and eventually get them ready to be clean and responsible parents. We will work with the fostering parents and grandparents as well. WE were more than happy to say yes to this request. A volunteer from the bureau will be joining us next week and begin training us in what protocol we need to follow and help us set up this new venture. ISNT GOD GREAT! We are again are a free service. This takes a huge amount of time and resources and we have little but we are not just only half way doing it. We are fully committed and we are in it to win it as Randy Jackson would say...love American Idol....! We do need help and anything you could donate would be appreciated, We need reams of paper, clip boards, file folders, supplies, paper clips, note pads, dog clips, thumb tacks, pens , pencils, erasers, dry erase markers, dry erase boards, post in notes in all sizes, and so on. If you would like to donate any of these items call me at 765 -338-9885 so I can be there to give you a charitable receipt. As always we can use money, dimes, nickels, quarters, dollars....etc.....We are working for Connersville and our loved ones. I have two of those loved ones and I want to see them better too! WE are located at 203 W. 21st Street Connersville, Indiana and our number is 764 338 9885. We are open 9-5 Mon - Fri. and later if necessary. We are always on call. HELPS if you can. Remember: Tomorrow will be better! MUCH LOVE TO CONNERSVILLE! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!! Karen Isaacs BS CHW/CRS-SA President and Founder The Climb Addictions Recovery and Rehabilitation
