I hope the people in the Napier-Gisborne area do not give up and keep on fighting this ANTI-RAIL Government to re-open this rail line. This Government has a history now for saying NO to rail projects as our Auckland Council is at loggerheads with this Government to extend the passenger network. National has closed the Okahukura-Stratford line and the N.A.L North Auckland Line is under threat of closure. Also this Government is saying NO to extending the electrification from Papakura to Pukekohe and saying NO to the Auckland underground City Rail Loop and extending passenger train services from Pukekohe to Tuakau. The Wellingtons Capital Connection is on the verge of closing as this National Government wants to pull the plug on funding. Saying NO to building a spur line to Marsden Point on the N.A.L for the container ships coming in which is all being trucked. Saying NO to Bob Parker when he was Mayor to have a Metro rail passenger service for Christchurch WE NEED TO VOTE THIS GOVERNMENT OUT.
