I just finished watching this short film. First of all, hats off - TopicsExpress

I just finished watching this short film. First of all, hats off to Sameer for creating a socially relevant movie. While it is true many of us have seen or read about the character Priya, what intrigues me is her many facets of her character. She has been portrayed as a charming and empathetic girl yet naive and bold enough to cheat her boy friend. Her naiveness in dealing with the situation is very evident in the movie. First, when the protagonist finds out her girl friends illegitimate affair with another man, she tries to cover it up by saying she cant live without the protagonist and the second man is just her friend. Is her naiveness in covering the fact being portrayed as her first line of defense? I would rather direct this question to the director Sameer or may be to a clinical psychologist. In the climax scene, when her new boy friend beats the protagonist, she is empathetic about him while shows lack of reasoning for having that emotion and subsequently leading the poor protagonist land in a mental hospital. This movies presents two dimensions of weak characters. One is emotionally damaged and the other is weak from the social value perspective. Since this movie is based on a true story, I would assume the character played by the heroine justifies the heroine of the true story. youtube/watch?v=uzufztKofaA&hd=1
