I just found two REALLY cool pictures of Salters on eBay. I did my best to win one of them but the automatic bidding is already too rich for my blood. I did manage to download copies of the images. The first shows a steam shovel digging to widen the cut for the railroad. The second photo shows the trainload of dirt being dumped out further down the line. The time is 1928, which is when the Atlantic Coast Line added a second track to their main line from Richmond, VA to Jacksonville, FL. My and Beth Jontes grandfather Hugh Odom worked on this project. This second line remained until the late 1960s when it was pulled up.
