I just got a call from a wonderful lady called Diane, who has been very concerned about my sons care. I will not involve her further. (She works for one of these programs who does do her job, and does it well.) But she is the one who informed me to NOT believe the nursing home Medicaid waiver would help me get my son home in September 2013. She told me it just was not going to happen. She said, please Grace, dont hold your breath. There is no funding. She just called me to check on Scotts progress. I told her he is with our Lord now. She was so shocked. I told her what, when, where and how I got Scott out myself. I also told her about the woman from Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program of Florida who came to visit our home. She never went in to say hi to Scott. There is a lot more involved that I will not go into just now. I ended up telling this woman to leave my home and that she was stringing me along all that time just to get her own paychecks. That woman even grinned at me as she gathered her papers. So, Diane gave me the site to notify our state legislators of this and how misleading they are. Maybe I can help prevent another family from going thru the agony my son endured in these nursing homes. As a retired nurse, who used to work in nursing homes, I am appalled at how these patients are treated. This is not a proper place for head injury or mentally challenged people. I need to do this. I have prayed many times about what to do. I believe God just opened up a door. Someone needs to stand up for these poor people who are NOT getting care, treatment, respect, dignity and proper nursing care they deserve. My daughter asked me one day, mom, what happens to people who dont have a mom like you to stand up for them? I showed her several people who wandered in wheel chairs and were with drawn inside themselves. I did get some of them to smile and even wave. How sad, how terrible our elderly and mentally challenged patients are being treated. Why? Medicaid/Medicare doesnt care. God, give me the strength to tell my son and other persons story of how inside these places really work......or should I say...dont work? Prayers Ill be able help them, some how. I have this demanding urge to help them.
