I just got a notice about my kids missing too much school this year. I couldnt help it. I had to send something back because it annoyed me. I just wanted to share what I sent...incase anyone else might be feeling the same way! *********************************************************************************** I received a notice today about my childrens absences. It states that Anastasia and Nicholas have not been attending school as expected and if they should miss an additional 3 days a doctors note will be required. Well, I would just like to say I am a mom with 6 children. Kids tend to get sick. Also, this winter has been very bad and on some days the district did not close school forcing parents to make the call to keep their kids home even though it was not an official snow day. Our bus was involved in numerous incidents due to bad weather and was even involved in an accident just last week. But I digress... I would just like to let you know that from now on, since we can not afford the hour drive and co pay required just to see the childrens doctor to get a note for the school district, I will be more than happy to send them to school sick. I will not be able to drive up there and get them to bring them home either, I am guessing this means they will spend the day with the nurse. But attendance is more important than the health and safety of my children and their classmates that they could infect with whatever illness they are suffering from, so I am sure it will be ok. Also, thank you so much for reminding me that out of the whole school year my children have missed a whole 8 and 7 days respectively. The concern about their grades is touching considering Anastasia has received The Presidential Award For Educational Excellence and Nick is on the honor roll. I can see how this would cause great concern. As for the form you enclosed for me to fill out...Im going to go ahead and skip that. I think this should be sufficient. Thank you for your time.
