Reflection: Yesterday, I shared with the sheep God placed in my care that Im the 5th pastor in the 97 year history of The faith family of West Point Baptist Church, and Im the 3rd to serve over 13 years. It wasnt deep information, but, for many, it was an aha moment. 5 pastors in close to 100 years is major, especially in the Black Baptist Church. There was a moment when I strongly entertained serving elsewhere, but Im thankful The Lord knows best, and The Lord not only orders our steps, but also our stops. As I pause to reflect, I just wanted to share how excited I am to serve as the Senior Pastor/Teacher of this local church with 97 years of ties to the Bronzeville community and beyond. No, its not my anniversary, and our church anniversary is in October. Im reflecting because its a joy to serve, as well as having a great congregation to serve alongside me. I love you, West Point!
