I just got home from taking Rosie to the vet for her final - TopicsExpress

I just got home from taking Rosie to the vet for her final goodbye, but it was not to be. The doctor who was going to euthanize her asked me if she could evaluate Rosie, because she was not convinced Rosie needed to be put down. She examined Rosie and she told me the only thing she noted was that Rosie needed to have her eye removed due to a luxating lens. She saw no signs of a tumor or growth, and said her bloodwork was excellent, Rosie is otherwise healthy, and she saw no reason that Rosie couldnt live several more years with one less eye. She told me that she had spent considerable time on the phone since this morning, searching for an organization who would do the enucliation (eye removal surgery) at a lesser cost, and she found that the ASPCA in Missouri would do the surgery for $300! She went a step further, and contacted a pet charity in our area, called Friends of KC Animals, who offered to pay for her surgery!! Their only request was that we eventually pay them back as we can afford it, so that the money may be paid forward to someone else to provide needed vet care for another pet in need. My vet is going to call me later on tonight and let me know when the surgery can be scheduled. I cannot thank everyone enough for their prayers and support during this horrible time. This is truly a miracle at the 11th hour, as I was not expecting this news at all. I am stunned and overwhelmed that my vet would go to these measures to save my little ones life. I would so much rather have a one-eyed Rosie than no Rosie at all! I want to thank everyone who reached out to me in comfort and support, for all the private messages, and for all who prayed for Rosie and me. Today I was given a new gift of life. This is certainly not the outcome I thought it would be. Thank you all again, for all your prayers.
