I just had a God moment. A God moment is one of those times that you know that God is speaking to you, either by his words or his actions, and you receive his message loud and clear. Just a few minutes ago, I started writing todays Facebook page message. I had a definite message in mind, and quite honestly, I dont think my message would have been kindly received by a few people. My message would have basically said that there are two sides to every story, and that we should be careful which side we believe. But then the computer screen here at church just went blank and the computer shut off. No, I didnt touch any keys or hit the wrong ones by mistake. The computer shut off. And I quickly looked toward heaven and said Guess you didnt want me to talk about that, huh God? You see, as I was writing I had anger in my heart. I know of situations where I fully see both sides, and realize that some people are not fully telling the truth or are misrepresenting the facts at hand. So, as I started to write, I became more angry...until God shut down the computer on me. Am I just seeing things? No. Is my imagination running away with me? Not at all. I believe that God knew where my heart was, and that he didnt want me writing a message of anger...no matter if I mention names or not. God wants me to share my messages of love, hope, and encouragement...not to spread more anger and discord. In todays Bible study reading of Hebrews, chapters 1 - 5, I came across some comforting words. Hebrews 3:12-13 says: See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sins deceitfulness. Isnt that so true? We need to encourage one another, yes, but we really need to be careful and not let sins deceitfulness affect us. We can not allow the enemy to drive a divide between us, whether we are family or friends, brothers or sisters. The enemy knows when we are doing well and knows our weaknesses...this is the reason why we need to be forever vigilant. As Christians, we are targets, and we need to stand strong in our faith, even during those times that we have disputes with other Christians. Dont let the enemy invade you. As for me, I had my God moment this morning, and I heard him loud and clear. He reminded me to check my heart and make sure that I have the proper motives for everything I do. Brothers and sisters, God is saying the same thing to you: make sure that whatever you do in this life, you are keeping your eyes upon God...serve him. If you can do that, you will help eliminate many disputes that may arise along the way. Yes, you wont eliminate ALL disputes, that is true...but focusing on God will help you live your life the right way. Thats MY God moment for today...whats yours? Amen. ~John Lloyd~
