I just had my first in office arrest on a bond forfeiture after - TopicsExpress

I just had my first in office arrest on a bond forfeiture after working here for over 10 yrs. It for a young pretty average girl who has been giving one to many breaks. My heart sank as I sat here watching her scramble to make arrangements for her things and tearfully plead with her mother to help her over the phone. I imagined Mia in this scenario and thought at one point I even heard her voice thru her tears. I felt my own tears well up and quickly left the room. I know this girl had multiple opportunities to handle her case and she put herself in this position, but it was very sad to watch. I saw the color drain from her face and the reckoning start to settle in. I hope she learns from this truly extreme lesson. I felt for her mother and the difficult decision she had to make in letting her go. The weary sadness in her voice and loss of faith and trust in her own daughter was rattling. Its safe to say, this is one of the less satisfying parts of the job and not at all exciting. We are not sleazy bondsmen as the movies depict. We are counselors, advisors, someone to vent to, and at times.... many times a shoulder to cry on. The family suffers just as much as the client.
